Same Same

Today is just one of those days when the only thought that can run through my mind is "why am I in Vietnam and what am I doing with my life?!"

Proverbs 7:21-23

With persuasive words [the adulteress] led him astray;
she seduced him with her smooth talk.
All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer stepping into a noose
till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.

Many Samaritans Believe

My prayer for my upcoming time back is Vietnam is this: That I would share about my experiences with Christianity and with God with honesty and with a fresh heart that is experiencing God daily. And that like the Samaritans and the Woman at the Well, that they people of Vietnam will one day say "we no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."

World Wide Web

You know what's annoying? That (almost) every single web address starts with "www". Why not just get ride of the www? It doesn't make sense. Maybe it's my limited knowledge of how these URL's work and all the computer programming and algorithms behind the scene but in my opinion, it's both really dumb and a waste of time.

Today I tried to pick up some dry cleaning and when I got there, my clothes weren't ready and they asked me to come back later in the afternoon. I've been on the other end of that exchange far too many times at my parent's dry cleaners so it was nice to both not have the pressure of a customer trying to pick up clothes that aren't ready and to be able to be understanding and cooperative.

Leaving tomorrow for my second stint in 'Nam. Hopefully 6 weeks and no more.

Small Things

I ended up staying awake last night till about 630am after a 9 hour settlers of catan session at Eugenia's house. One of the small things I LOOOVE about hotels here in the US are that they have those curtains that completely block out all light. I was able to sleep until about 1115am with no problem. Typically the sun disturbs my peaceful slumber right about 700am.

One of the small things I LOOOVE about the US in general is that the food selection is completely amazing. American, Chinese, Korean, Mexican, Japanese... of course there are more but those are the foods that I'm going to try to gorge on before leaving for my second stint in 'Nam.

I've decided that sandwiches have overtaken my favorite food title, previously held by pizza. And, that untoasted has overtaken toasted as my sandwich preference.

My schedule for this glorious weekend?
-Barnes for some book shopping
-Mall for some clothes and gift shopping
-Sunday worship / see Eugene Park get confirmed
-Lunch with old college buddies
-College football!
-NFL!
-Start packing and transferring things to my storage unit
-Have a serious, serious date with the Lord, much overdue

Hopefully I can report back on Monday with updates about this list. Bye!

Cross

Hi, my name is Eugene Chang and I'm a sinner.

I listened to a sermon once about sexual sin. And the pastor was preaching about trying to stay away from certain temptations and what the ramifications of sexual sin are. And naturally, there are things that he is saying which make me think "I've already done that..." As if reading the minds of his listeners, he says something that continually resonates in my heart. "To those of you who are already guilty of these things, there is room at the Cross for you."

It was the most glorious news I've ever heard. There's room at the Cross for me.

Thank you God.
